Thought For The Day

Here's your Daily Thought from Real Simple:

"We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us that we don't take time to enjoy where we are."  - Bill Watterson

My furry friend Boone and I enjoying where we were...the pool!

How true is that?  Here are my wishes for each and every one of my Peeps on this absolutely gorgeous Friday.  May you live in the moment and appreciate all that you have today.  May you give thanks for all the blessings in your life.  May you find at least twenty reasons to smile your biggest smile.  May you do at least one thing that makes you truly happy.  May you stop to smell the wildflowers and enjoy the sunshine.  And tonight, when you lay your heads down, may you dream of lovely things and wake to find them real.

Relevant Quote

The folks over at Real Simple magazine have done it again! As I opened my inbox this morning, I saw this "Daily Thought," and it resonated so much with me that it made me tear up a little bit.

Obviously, when I find these bits of goodness, I love to share them with my Peeps, so here you go.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts."
-Winston Churchill

While I'm not ready to go into specifics just yet, I will divulge that I have had some major changes in my life in the past few days. I appreciate the respect of privacy of some, as well as the support of others. I have learned this for sure: My peeps are the best. Period.

So, to all of you out there - I hope you are having a good week. If you're not having a good week, or even a good day, take comfort in the fact that God is there. He really reached out to me this week, and I was so receptive and appreciative of that. I hope the same can be true for you. If you're not religious, turn to those you can lean on and revel in the love and support you receive.

Posting might be a bit light for a little while, as I've honestly just got to take care of me right now. I really appreciate each and every one of you, and your support and encouragement will surely be helpful as the Chicken Wing tries flying again!

Thanks for being the wind beneath my wings!

Until next time,

Real Simple magazine has been on a roll this week with their motivational quotes (that I handily get delivered to my inbox daily). If you would also like to enjoy this service, go here.

So, without further ado, here is some quote goodness for your week. I hope that you have found a reason to smile today!

"To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there." - Barbara Bush

"A good friend is a connection to life - a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world." - Lois Wyse

"Good manners sometimes means simply putting up with other people's bad manners." - H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

"Stress is the trash of modern life - we all generate it but if you don't dispose of it properly, it will pile up and overtake your life." - Danzae Pace

"There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion, or company than a good marriage." - Martin Luther

"Marriage is not a noun; it's a verb. It isn't something that you get. It's something that you do. It's the way you love your partner every day." - Barbara De Angelis

Quote Time!

"It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan."

Thank you, Eleanor Roosevelt, for your incredibly wise way with words. You've provided the world with so many inspirational quotes, and this one speaks to me in particular. Don't know if you've caught this, but I'm a bit of a planner!

Thought I'd share, and jump back head first into blogging! I've missed you, Peeps!

Can't wait to share more bloggy goodness with you all!

Until next time,

Chicken Wing Quote of the Day

Once again, REAL SIMPLE magazine pulls through with a great quote to start this Friday. As my mental health break this morning, I decided that I'd love to share it with you.

“Just because something doesn’t do what you planned it to do doesn’t mean it’s useless.” - Thomas Edison

This quote applies to me especially because I am what is known as a planner. Most of the time, I'm at my absolute happiest when I have a plan of action - an itinerary for trips/outings, for example. I don't like going on a trip and then idly sitting around. I like to do things - I live for the experience! (I will admit to being an anomaly, though...sometimes, I do like to be spontaneous. A great instance of this is window shopping - I LOVE window shopping, which never has an itinerary or schedule. That is one of my times to wander along aimlessly, just enjoying the views.)

Sometimes, though, my plans just don't work out - it's that simple. It's then that one has to improvise and adapt, and I think that is the essence of what Mr. Edison is saying. Just because you didn't get your way doesn't mean that all is lost. And that is a lesson that we can all put to use in our everyday lives.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Until next time,

Chicken Wing Quote of the Day

I got this, again, from my favorite magazine, REAL SIMPLE (you know, the only magazine I read that is not related to celebrity gossip...yep, I'm guilty. I love and read those.).

I thought it was simplistic in design, but complex and grand in meaning, so I decided to share it with you.

I think it's a great thing to take to heart, and here goes:

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." - Oscar Wilde

This is me, being myself.

Chicken Wing Quote of the Day

I just came across this little pearl of wisdom and felt compelled to share. We're all overworked, underpaid, and stressed to the max, and this quote reminds you of what's important.

"Spend the afternoon. You can't take it with you."
-Annie Dillard

Until next time,

P.S. - I can't wait to update you on this past week! I'm sorry you've had to wait so long, but I was super duper busy! :)
