Music And Bling

"Music and bling, music and bling, these are two of my favorite things..."  Now, that's a tune that should catch on quickly, and while an unlikely combination for some folks, I happen to love all things music and most things bling!

Let's start with the shiny stuff - I just have to give a shout-out to Nick Lachey, who recently wed his longtime girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo.  And, by the looks of things, "he LOVED it so he put a ring on it."  I mean, put on your Ray Bans, folks because the new Mrs. Lachey's left hand is currently blinding innocent bystanders all across California (and his ring isn't too shabby either)!

Kiss my Asscher cut, Batman!

Okay, now that I've picked my jaw up off the floor, I'm now going to admit that there has been a song that has been permanently lodged in my brain since the first time I heard it and I am hoping that by sharing it with all of you, it will set me free of my constantly singing, "Craaaazy girl, don't you know that I love you?"  I mean, I'm starting to get strange looks from girls thinking I'm simultaneously calling them mentally unstable and professing my feelings for them.  This = not a good look for the workplace.

So, without further ado, enjoy "Crazy Girl" from the Eli Young Band.  (Sidenote:  I love it because Comanche often jokes with me and calls me silly woman.  He also says, "you're so crazy, babydoll" a lot.  Should I be getting a message here?)

Enjoy folks, and sorry if it gets stuck in your heads, too!  (But not that sorry, because it's such a great song!)

I Want To Swim In Ruffles!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you an important Public Service Announcement.  I want to swim in ruffles.

No, really.  I love ruffles so much I literally want to swim in them.

So cute!  Source

Love this Juicy top! Source

Oh, Kate Beckinsale....you look gorgeous no matter what color hair you have!  Source

Love the top...not sure about the bottoms.  Source
Summer is coming people, and it will be here before we know it.  Soooo, basically what I'm saying is if anyone finds anything out there like any of these that is reasonably priced (and to me, that's $50 and under), hit a Chicken Wing up!

This has been an important Public Service Announcement.  We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

I Love Patterns - No Really, I Do!

This post is dedicated to a majorly SICK obsession that I have.

She can be colorful. She can be regular (but still oh-so-classy) black and white. She is curvy, and just too sexy.

What is she? Who/What is this thing that I love (that obviously must be a pattern)?

Get the LOVE photo here.

Yes, folks, damask is her name, and royal elegance and fun are her games! For some reason, I stumbled across this pattern sometime over the past year, and I don't know why I never paid her much attention before - after all, she's been around way longer than I have!

So, I decided to share some lovely damask (pronounced (dam esk - the "a" is short)) inspiration with you, and then, in a later post, I will show you how I've chosen to personally introduce this pattern into the Casa de Chicken Wing.
First and foremost, you can see the outside edges of this blog! There's a gorgeous example of damask and this blog background speaks to my essence - damask, fuschia, and diamonds - yes, yes, and yes!

How about in fashion???

Source

Okay, you want to see some damask for the home? Absolutely - I can deliver! :)

How about a lamp? Source

A good memo board is hard to find. This one would be worth the wait! Source

Have mercy! This is a sassy chair, and it can be found at Pier 1! Source

I just died a glorious aqua-colored death over this wallpaper/chair combo! Seriously, that is absolutely gorgeous wallpaper, and I was not a fan of the "impossible to remove" stuff until I saw this photo! Source

And finally, the damask inspiration pictures that just stake you through the heart - "How would one incorporate damask into their wedding or party?," you ask. "Like this," I say.

Through a gorgeous, colorful invite! Source

Or an incredible tablescape, complete with damask runner, favor box, and menu. Source

Or one of the most stunning cake designs I've ever seen! Source

So, as you can see, once you find something you like, it's pretty easy to find inspiration in the land of the internets! :) I like to become obsessed with something, search for inspiration, let my mind run wild, and then rein myself back in and focus on whatever project comes out of it!

I can't wait until I find my next obessession! If you have any that you think I'd be interested in, please feel free to let me know! Now, you'll have to excuse me as I wipe the drool from my keyboard.

Until next time,

Chicken Wing Musical Obsession Part Deux

Okay, I have a confession to make. In regards to the title of this post, I have to warn you that this may happen a lot, where I introduce musical acts that I am obsessed with.

The reason for that is because music flows in my heart. I love almost EVERY single kind of music you can throw at me, and I genuinely mean that. There are always different things that capture me, from the melody to the lyrics, to the overall presentation. Sometimes, I like a band just because of how they perform live. Sometimes, I like an artist based only on what they record (you know those artists/bands - you obsess over their CD's and then buy tickets to their show and it's horrible).

But this guy I'm going to obsess over with you seems to be the real deal. His name is Jason Mraz, and behind the handsome voice is a great performer. His demeanor seems very laid back, which is why the end result shocks your system - his songs sound simple, and are easy to hum along to, but when you really take a second and listen, the intricate musicality that he intertwines with his lyrics is really outstanding.

If you like what you're about to hear, and want more, look up the following titles: "I'm Yours," "Lucky," "You and I Both," or "The Remedy," all of which had major radio play and are simply fabulous!

The song I'm going to share with you, though, is entitled "If It Kills Me," and it just might be one of the most romantic songs ever! The first video has a picture of Jason, so you can see him (he's quite cute) and is a very clear rendition of this song. Then, if the song itself didn't make you feel anything at all (in which case, check your pulse because you're more than likely crazy), I've included the second video, which is a number from So You Think You Can Dance. Yes, I'm sure you're surprised about that one! Haha! But, it's my blog, so I can reference that show as many times as I want! :-) The choreography is by Travis Wall and the dancers are Jason and Jeanine, and they do a marvelous job.

So, enjoy it, Chicken-Wingers! I hope you fall in love with this artist. Trust me, they wouldn't make the blog if I didn't honestly believe they're worth it!

Here we go!

Until next time,

Chicken Wing Musical Obsession

One thing you may not know about me is that I have a slightly obsessive personality...sometimes a movie, song, book, TV Show, etc. will catch my attention and I can't get enough!

One of my obsessions for the past few years is a band called Paramore. They are completely awesome, and I hope to shed some light on this group if you've never heard of them before. Their music is great (with amazing guitar riffs, and of course, rhythmic drumming). One of my favorite aspects of this band (like many Paramore fans) is Hayley Williams, the lead singer. She's a tiny "one-of-the-boys" girl with a powerhouse voice that is completely unexpected. I think another surprise that comes along with Hayley is her vocal control - every note she sings is calculated, and her endurance is incredible....she can jump around the stage, throw her hair around, and her voice never falters. The best part is - Hayley is not a lip-syncher! She sings live, as evidenced by the deviations from the original song and new arrangements, as well as her acoustic ability. Basically, she is completely awesome!

So, here is the video for their new single, Ignorance, and I hope you enjoy them. I've also included the video for Decode, which was used on the Twilight soundtrack. You will see the range of this group, and don't be surprised if you find yourself wanting more. As far as I can tell, it's a common side effect of Paramore!
